Princess Tea Parties: A Complete Guide
Tea parties are the most photogenic kids’ party theme — and the calmest. Here’s how to do it right.
The setup
Long table, white or pink tablecloth, mismatched ‘fancy’ plates (thrift store). Real teacups (plastic for under-7s), small saucers. Centerpieces of fresh flowers or peonies in mason jars.
The ‘tea’
Decaf herbal tea (chamomile, peppermint) — cooled to lukewarm. OR pink lemonade if you want zero risk. Real sugar cubes with mini tongs is the moment kids feel grown-up.
The food
Tea-sandwich shapes (cucumber, jam-and-butter, peanut butter), scones, mini cupcakes, fresh strawberries. Avoid anything that requires a fork.
The princess
She arrives in costume, sings two songs, leads a ‘royal etiquette’ game (curtsy practice, posh accent challenge), reads one short story, takes photos. 30 minutes total.
Tiara craft station
Plain headband + glue dots + stick-on jewels. 10 minutes max. Take home as the favor.
Photo strategy
Shoot the centerpieces and tablescape BEFORE kids arrive. Once they sit, candid only — staged kid photos at this age look forced.
