About Wednesday
Wednesday arrives at your celebration exactly as you’d fear — black braids, blank stare, entirely unimpressed by the balloons. In a detailed, photo-ready costume kids recognise instantly, and from the very first hello, every child is pulled in for photos, deadpan challenges and that one perfect picture.
She’s the funniest character we send out precisely because she refuses to play along. She won’t smile. She finds the party mildly tragic. She informs the birthday child that celebrating another year closer to the void is a curious choice — and the kids absolutely love her for it. Nine-year-olds in particular have never met a grown-up committed to being this dry.
The visit is fully interactive: Wednesday runs Nevermore-style challenges, gloomy-fun tests, riddles and that dance — the one every kid at the party has already learned off their phone. She judges everyone’s attempt with total seriousness and awards points for the least amount of joy displayed.
There’s a special moment with the birthday child too — the deadpan cracks just slightly, something almost warm sneaks out, and then it’s gone. Blink and you miss it, which is exactly the joke.
