DIY Slime Workshop at Home
Slime is the perfect kids’ party activity: hands-on, mess-controlled, take-home favor in one. Here’s how to run a slime workshop at home — without the kitchen looking like a crime scene.
The base recipe (per kid)
1/2 cup white school glue, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tbsp contact lens solution (with boric acid), water, food coloring. Mix glue + soda + water + color, then SLOWLY add saline until it’s no longer sticky.
The kit-in-a-bag trick
Pre-portion glue + dry ingredients into a Ziploc per kid. Add the activator. Kids squish/knead through the bag — slime made, hands clean, no spills.
Mix-ins worth buying
Fine glitter, foam beads, plastic confetti, scented essential oils (lavender, vanilla — skip citrus, it can degrade the slime). Stay away from anything sharp or food-based that spoils.
Safety
Boric acid in saline is generally safe topically but irritating if eaten. Set rules: no eating, no eyes, wash hands after. Skip the activity entirely for under-4s — they put everything in their mouths.
Take-home containers
Small plastic deli cups (4 oz) work great. Add a sticker label with each kid’s name. Slime stays good for 2–3 weeks if stored covered.
