About Lip Balm Making
Whip up scented lip balms with natural beeswax and oils. Kids melt, blend, pour and label their own tubes — three each, in packaging cute enough to hand straight to a friend.
It feels like a real workshop, not a party craft, and kids notice the difference immediately. There’s beeswax that has to melt properly, oils measured out by hand, flavor drops counted one at a time. Our instructor handles anything hot; the kids do the measuring, the mixing and the deciding. The result behaves like the balms they buy — smooth, glossy, actually good.
Flavors are where they take their time. Strawberry, vanilla, honey, mint, watermelon, bubblegum, cola — food-grade every one of them, so a little on the lips is entirely fine. Some kids play it safe with one clean flavor. Others invent combinations we didn’t see coming and love the result anyway.
Then comes tinting and labeling. A pinch of natural color turns a balm faintly pink or peachy, and each tube gets a label with their name on it. Watching an eleven-year-old carefully write her own brand name on a tube she made herself is a small thing that lands surprisingly hard.
Calm, sweet, entirely absorbing. It’s a favorite with tweens who’ve outgrown big shows but still want to make something, and it works beautifully as a quiet station during a longer party. Three tubes each go home in their pockets, and they’re usually opened again before dinner.
