About Dry Perfume Making
A boutique-style scent lab. Kids smell, sample and combine fragrance pellets to design their own signature perfume. We then blend their custom scent into a base of natural shea butter and pour it into a small tin.
The session starts with the smelling. Thirty-plus fragrance pellets go around the table — rose, vanilla, jasmine, cedar, bergamot, sea salt, fresh linen, green apple — and kids work through them slowly, deciding what they love and what they absolutely don’t. It’s the first time most of them have been asked to take their own nose seriously, and they rise to it.
Then comes the blending, which is where it gets real. A perfume needs a top note, a heart and a base, and kids learn to build in layers rather than throwing everything in at once. Some go delicate and floral. Some invent something bold that shouldn’t work and somehow does. Our instructor guides without overriding — the formula is theirs.
Each kid leaves with a personally designed solid perfume in a labeled tin. We provide a ‘scent diary’ so they can recreate or modify their formula later — a small notebook with their exact recipe written down, which turns a party craft into something they can come back to.
Slightly grown-up, very calming energy. Great for tween parties or as a quiet companion activity. All ingredients are hypoallergenic and IFRA-compliant, and we bring everything: pellets, bases, tins, tools, labels and the diaries.

All pellets are hypoallergenic and IFRA-compliant, and the base is natural shea butter. Tell us about specific sensitivities when booking and we’ll prepare alternatives so every child works from the same tray.
Of course — we bring woody, citrus and fresh notes alongside the florals, and plenty of boys love designing their own scent. It’s a lab, not a beauty counter.
The sweet spot is 8–14. It rewards patience and a bit of decision-making, which is exactly what tweens want from a party activity. We can simplify the blending steps for younger kids on request.
4–10 per instructor for the best experience. The smelling and blending stages need real one-on-one time, so we keep tables small rather than rushing anyone through.
